The Barking Dog has been one of my favorite neighborhood spots since I moved here, but this weekend they became so much more; they became part of one of my favorite memories. Over the weekend I hosted my housewarming party here, and I truly can’t thank Dan and the entire team enough. From the moment I reached out, Dan was incredible to work with. He was responsive, accommodating, and genuinely cared about making sure everything came together perfectly. He even let us take over the patio on one of the most beautiful Seattle summer days, and it honestly couldn’t have been a more perfect setting. The staff are simply the best. They’re genuine, welcoming, and the kind of people who will joke around with you, remember you, and make you feel like you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. Their energy is contagious, and it’s one of the biggest reasons I keep coming back. The cocktails are fantastic, the beer selection is awesome, the food is consistently great, and the atmosphere is exactly what you hope your neighborhood bar will be… comfortable, lively, and full of good people. I’ve been coming here often because this place genuinely brings me joy, but being able to celebrate my housewarming here made it even more meaningful. It felt like a true welcome to the neighborhood, not just for me but for all of my friends and family who came to celebrate. Every single person had a wonderful time. Thank you, Dan, and thank you to the entire Barking Dog team for your kindness, hospitality, and for creating a place that feels like home. Seattle needs more neighborhood bars like this. I’ll be back again, again, again and again.

I recently discovered the Barking Dog Alehouse in Seattle. Even arriving early, my family & I found that the restaurant was nearly full, including the tables outside, along the sidewalk. At times, I found it difficult to carry on a conversation in the somewhat noisy restaurant. The restaurant’s menu is wide and varied, and features a number of options. In addition, the Alehouse offers a wide menu of beers and cocktails. Customers place their own orders using a QR code found on every table. Despite the high level of traffic on this particular night, our food was delivered promptly. Wait staff were attentive without hovering too much.

We rarely leave our local hood but decided to veer out to the Barking Dog Alehouse last night because we had heard good things about it. First, I don't think this is actually Ballard. More like Phinney Ridge, which to me is a good thing because as much as I love Ballard, I avoid it on Saturday nights, and we almost didn't go here till we realized it's not actually in Ballard. Rather, it's tucked inside a neighborhood, totally unassuming, and 100% worth visiting for food, drinks, or both. The hostess who seated us was so friendly, as were any of the staff we interacted with. They're pretty smart in that they have a QR code ordering system, so you don't have to wait for a server, you can just order drinks and/or food whenever you're ready. And the service is fast. Husband and I both had the french dip which was really good. They have 3 different fry option (regular, stadium, and waffle) which is such a treat. Well rounded menu with lots of options. My husband is a big beer drinker and he was very happy with the options. I drink wine and was also happy with the selections. One note: when we arrived there were lots of families, which is awesome, but if you don't want to be around noisey kids, I would arrive after 7 because around that time, the place cleared out and non-kid parties started showing up. Great outdoor seating options, but the inside was cool too. Totally recommend.....will be back again!
