Monkey Grind Espresso Bar

I wanted to like it bc supporting local businesses is important. They nourish the community. AND YET…My first time at this cafe was quite bad — overpriced and under-serviced. I was the only customer in line and ordered a drink that ended up being $8, which can happen in today’s price environment, so I tipped $2 expecting that it would be at least as good as any other cafe. There were two people behind the counter. Nearly 10 minutes had gone by before I asked about my drink, at which time I saw they were getting milk out of the walk-in, along with other inventory they decided to restock at that time. Five more minutes later I was still waiting for my drink only to find that it was left on the counter without anyone telling me. Neither person bothered to tell me, the only customer standing by the register. I felt ignored and treated like an afterthought, if not a complete hassle to them. Paying $10 for a tall mocha made the experience all the more offensive.

I love this place. It is warm, beautiful, and inviting. Everything from the Art on the wall to the conversations you have are extremely fulfilling. I especially enjoy the character and care that goes into the business and especially the coffee. This isnthe type of small business that makes Seattle better.

Great vibes, friendly. Store was clean and cozy. Awesome artwork. The photo of Mick Foley did it for me. Also, they stand for human rights especially LGBTQ+ As an ally, I rock with this place. I didn't give it 5 stars because it was a little pricey. But I get it. Thats the cost of being a small business owner operating in Seattle. Also, the sugar free syrups were very limited to vanilla & Hazelnut. But my late was delicious. I just moved back to Seattle in my old neighborhood, so I will be coming back 😁😃
